hey. haven't been posting recently. so busy with SYF rehearsals. i watched The Winter's Tale yesterday. It was very enjoyable, especially *ahem* the balloon dance. it was...kamasutra with balloons.
In all, the play was a very good piece from director Sam Mendes and the main actors Simon Russell Beale, Rebecca Hall, Ethan Hawke and Sinead Cusack, not to mention the timeless stupidity of the character played by Tobias Segal.
Beale was resplendent as the forlorn and broken King Leontes of Sicilia. he suspects his wife, Queen Hermione has an affair with his best friend Polixenes, King of Bohemia, and accuses her of high treason. Her innocence proved by the Oracle of Apollo, Leontes refuses to believe it and pays the price when his son Mamillius is announced dead and Hermione faints, purportedly dead. At the end of Act 1, he is left a broken and desolate man. His daughter (whom he declares a bastard and a brat) is brought to the far-off kingdom of Bohemia by Antigonus, a lord of Sicilia and husband of Paulina (Cusack) on Leontes' orders. Antigonus is killed by a bear after bringing the child safely to its destination. The princess, Perdita, is picked up by an old shepherd, who raises her as his own daughter.
Ethan Hawke brought guffaws to the audience as the charming and likeable rogue Autolycus. One very memorable scene is when he pretends to be hanging from a cross to gain the sympathy(and wallet) of the unsuspecting shepherd's son (Tobias Segal) who is on his way to buy items for the sheep-shearing party later on. Meanwhile, Polixenes and Camillo, who is an exile from Sicilia, discuss the former's son, Florizel, who has become infatuated with a shepherdess. They decide to don disguises and attend the very same sheepshearing that Clown(i.e. the shepherd's son) is going for. During the course of the party, Autolycus shows up, this time as a pedlar, and manages to steal the purses of almost everyone who comes to buy his wares. One EXTREMELY memorable scene at this point, is the balloon dance. I nearly fell off my seat laughing. It was like the women had 2 circular balloons on the chest and the men had a long pink balloon on their...crotch. the women were like jiggling the balloons and the men were *ahem* stroking their pink balloons. it was like kamasutra. with balloons.
Florizel, who is at the party with Perdita, announce his impending marriage to her. Polixenes reveals himself to his shocked son and forbids him from marrying her, storming off the stage. Camillo reveals himself as well, but helping Florizel to escape. The shepherd and his son decide to reveal Perdita's heritage to Polixenes but are redirected by Autolycus, this time impersonating a courtier of Bohemia. He helps them to find Polixenes, who at this point is on a ship to Sicilia, pursuing his son and Perdita. The couple arrive in Sicilia, and Perdita sees her father, but they do not recognize each other. They have an audience with Leontes when the news comes in that Polixenes is looking for his son. In the end, all ends well when her parentage is revealed and the two are married. Paulina then reveals a "statue" of Hermione, which then comes to life. She then reveals herself as the real Hermione, who had gone into hiding. The family then reunites and the curtain closes.
oh yeah. there was also this bit about dildos, though i didn't really catch that part.
Great. I just gave a summary of the play X_X. it's for all you people who can't watch it. and I GOT ME NEW PHONE!!!!!111!!!one1!!! kk time to go sleep. and i got my first clan war :)

yeah. rebel pipers rocks your socks. enrolment was on sunday. and luther khanghwee kartik zhengshun arun luke junyao john walter jinfu owned like some crap. lol but jin fu and john screwed up while playing rebel.

today i watched rjc dramafest. veh screwed.
buckle buckley was chekhov's gun-ish because they talked about "the moon" which was a prop. again, it was the classic buckley case of "good script, crap actors". especially the one playing the Sm. her accent was so strong, her pronunciation was just awful and she was overdoing it like some crap. srsly. the rg people are TOO naturalistic. it's too "wayang" at times. so BB GGed. ashish kumar didn't have the impact i expected. and jun sean was spazz. as always :)
Bayley waddle was another "dark and horny" script. it featured, among other things, a bollywood dance, an old paedophile, 2 mondo weird people and a cleaner. it was quite a good performance though, although it did border on slapstick comedy, especially sagar's part. that was hilarious. "my precious papadum!" XDD
Hadley Hullett. Easily a shoo-in for best play. After all, with people like Nabil Aliffi, Zaki, Jon Lian and Jarrell, there isn't much room for failure. Nabil was directing this time, though. interesting. the play explored the lives of 7 (or rather 6, since the sailor backstory wasn't touched on) people trapped on a lifeboat. and the mom gives up her life to save her daughter. it combined elements of naturalistic theatre with physical theatre.
Moor Tarbet. Something like the Vagina Monologues. It was about periods and menstrual cramps. The best part was Shi Yang. His slapstick was so damn funny. It was a decent piece, but I feel the themes could have been better explored though.
Finally, it was Morrison Richardson. damn screwed. it was about this couple wanting to have babie so badly that the wife is delusional and imagines that she has a child. and the singing is damn spooky, not to mention out of tune.

tomorrow is GG day. I have 2tingxies and a xiaoceyan, then english theme presentation, then i have to replicate some Van Gogh painting, then HISTORY CCT. AND MUSTER PARADE. __ i wish there was players tomorrow. then i wouldn't have to do this crap.

OMGOMGOMG haven't posted for so long. ok. so today was lessons as usual. so first was chinese, then the entire class made Zhou damn pissed off. especially JPC. i mean, yes, he wants to make jokes but they are demeaning and insulting to his classmates. I don't find that particularly funny. next was history. we were super noisy(as usual) and i couldn't hear a thing. after that was english. ack I got jacked because I sent in the c'wealth thing just after mr Lim checked his email. X_X shit.
so after recess was physics and no one got fined. i think it was because mr pang forgot to fine him. lol. then geog, when mrs koh was emoing. and finally cle. when everyone just slacked off becuase mr chow wasn't here. the relief teacher was damn slack. he wrote down a list of things we could or could not do.
What we COULD do: Touch JM
responsibly, play handphone games, have a convo
What we could NOT do: play card games, milk cows, make fun of classmates(you know who you are)
After lessons was CCA. I went down for CCA without my PE and got jacked. horribly. I went for BB for 5 minutes to get my attendance taken XDDD then i went for players. and on a side note: I'VE FINISHED MY FRENCH HOMEWORK. YEAH.
kk. time to sleep now. musn't miss my dental appointment tomorrow. if not i won't get my braces :(
